About Me

My name is Kevin "Blax" Burroughs and I am born and raised in San Diego, CA. I currently live in Escondido, CA as the "Director of Choreography" & "Resident Lighting Designer" for STAR Repertory Theatre.

Some of my favorite performance credits include Benny in In The Heights, Enjolras in Les Miserables, Flick in Violet, The Wiz in The Wiz, Seaweed in Hairspray and others. Favorite choreography credits include shows such as Hairspray, All Shook Up, Little Shop of Horrors, The Wiz, Legally Blonde, Grease, The Addams Family, Shrek The Musical and others. Directorial credits include Next To Normal, James and the Giant Peach, All Shook Up (Assistant Director) and future productions such as Carrie: The Musical & Bring It On. In addition to performing, choreographing and directing, I have been the lighting designer for most of the shows I've directed/choreographed. I also produce multiple cabaret events and concerts showcasing local San Diego talent.

I've worked with many companies both performing and choreographing in San Diego such as San Diego Repertory Theatre, Cygnet Theatre, Moonlight Stage Productions, New Village Arts, Ion Theatre, Lamb's Players Theatre, STAR Repertory Theatre, LEGOLAND California, Common Ground Theatre (where I was the Resident Choreographer for 2 years), and others.
